CUIP/NSP-Tech Reporting Procedures and Messages

How-To do your Activity Reports in Evernote:

The reporting system as of the 2013-14 school year for CUIP-NSP Tech is based in a software product called Evernote.
  • Evernote wants users to register for an account. They have free and premium accounts. A free account will work fine.
  • The system is available as a web page to access thru a browser, also a program for desktop and laptop computers, and finally as an app on tablets and phones. Some of the getting-started steps seem to work best on the web. Once set up, you can use your preference of those platforms for the most convenient one to file your reports with.
  • Evernote maintains what they call Notes, organized in containers called Notebooks. CUIP staff will share with you a designated Notebook. After you have joined the shared notebook, when viewing the notebook you can click to create a New Note, and this will hold your report.
  • The instructions below break down into two sections: "Beforehand: Getting set up" and "Weekly Reporting: Filing an Activity Report".

Beforehand: Getting set up

  • If you have not received (or no longer see in your email) an invitation for our shared Evernote notebook, give the CUIP staff (at Help@cuip.uchicago.edu) your preferred email address,
  • CUIP staff will have Evernote send you a message to join that share.

  • It will take you right into the notebook and its contents.
  • By all means, read other reports, and see how it has been done.

  • Optional: If you will be using other than the Web Browser experience of Evernote, within the site you will find places to download the tablet / phone app, and the desktop / laptop program.

Weekly Reporting: Filing an Activity Report

  • Connect to Evernote.
  • This screenshot illustrates using the web browser version, but you could very similarly open the phone / tablet app or computer full application. (They would probably have your sign-in saved; this web example has a step needed for that.)

  • Navigate to our shared notebook.

  • Optionally, locate an early Note wthin the Notebook which provides a template that can be used for your reports. If you want to use it, click in the note content area, select all, and copy.

  • Click on "+ New Note" to create an empty Note, which you will fill in with your report.

  • In the note's Title space, please record you name or initials, the school, and the date. (Or else something completely different and witty!)
  • Optionally, in the Note's main text area, paste the Template if you copied it earlier.
  • Fill in the content of your report, in the Note's main text area, whether with the use of the template or freestyle.

That's it! Thanks for filing your reports.
